Nominate a teacher for a Golden Apple Award

The Highland Park Community Foundation continues to honor excellence in the teaching profession in Highwood and Highland Park.

In this eighth year of the program, nominees must teach in District 112 in grades 6-8. Anyone can nominate a teacher for this award: students, parents, colleagues, administrators, or community members. Teachers must have completed four full years of teaching, spend the majority of his/her time in the classroom teaching grades 6-8, and commit to teaching for a minimum of two more years in the Highland Park and Highwood community after receiving the award. Each nominated teacher will receive an application to compete in this rigorous process.

The final recipient of this prestigious award will receive an honorarium grant of $2000, a $500 gift card to the Apple store, and a “Golden Apple.” The final recipient will be recognized by the school and school district as well as by the Highland Park Community Foundation.

Nominations close November 8, 2017 at 5:00 P.M.
Application materials will be mailed to each teacher nominated.
No self-nominations accepted.

 

  • Who is eligible for the Award?

    • Classroom teachers currently teaching in grades 6-8 and in at least their fifth year of teaching
    • Nominees who are committed to continue teaching in Highland Park High School for at least two years after receiving the award

    What does the Award recipient receive?

    • $2,000 cash award
    • $500 Apple Gift Card
    • Recognition by Highland Park Community Foundation at awards ceremony
