The devastation brought by recent Hurricanes and Earthquakes has spurred a desire to help in our community. What can you do? The “Disaster Relief Quarter Campaign #OurCommunityCares” is raising funds to help victims of these devastating natural disasters. The Quarter Campaign aims to make charitable giving accessible and believes that small change can make a difference. Donations will be split between the Red Cross and UNICEF. To contribute quarters please look throughout our communities for donation containers with a bright red logo of a parachute delivering "25¢". The Highland Park Community Foundation is processing larger donations through its website.
This is an interfaith, inter-governmental effort still in formation that is supported by multiple municipalities and organizations including the City of Highland Park and the City of Highwood, Rotary Club of Highland Park/Highwood, Boy Scouts, 112 and 113 Education Foundations, North Shore School District 112 and District 113, Moraine Township, Trinity Episcopal Church, Family Service of Lake County, the Park District of Highland Park and the Highland Park Community Foundation.
The planning group is aware that other relief efforts are taking place; this is in addition to those efforts, to augment rather than supplant, in an attempt to create a unity of community around helping in this time of need.
